y·lem

[ahy-luhm] noun

the original matter from which the basic elements are said to have been formed following the explosion postulated in the big bang theory of cosmology

My name is Kyle Grover, and I chose to present myself under the name ylem because I thought it perfectly captured the spirit of my music.

When I start any project or composition, I have no idea what it might become. I’ve never stuck to one genre, one style, or even one medium, and I wanted a name that represented the idea that I, as a musician, am not any one singular thing.

Over the years, my musical journey has taken many twists and turns. I got my degree in Composition for Film, TV & Video Games from Berklee College of Music in 2017, and since then, my music has been presented in a wide variety of mediums. I really try to embrace the notion that it could potentially take any form, in ways I can’t even currently imagine.

I’ve composed score for films (including some that I produced myself), I’ve composed interactive music for video games, I’ve composed music for live theatre and for commercial use. I’m open to composing music and working with creators in any medium, and am always seeking out new and exciting musical avenues to explore.

I’ve also written, produced, mixed, and mastered music for many other artists, in a variety of genres, and I’m open to working with any artist, regardless of style or genre.

I offer a range of services, including:

  • remote mixing & mastering

  • full music production

  • instrumental arranging

  • film scoring & sound design

  • music composition & sound design for any other mediums

Please reach out if you have any interest in any of these services, or if you have any musical needs for any type of project; I’m always looking for new artists and creators to work with, and am always looking for new forms for my music to take.
